whoever made those stupid comments about "The shias imply that ahlul bayt did not follow the sunnah" better cite WHERE they found this nonsense. no shia scholar dead or alive ever said anything remotely close to this. as far as following Imam Ali(karramallahu wajha hu) it IS part of following the Prophet. there are dozens upon dozens of ahadeeth about the virtues of sayyidina 3ali.
as far as reading usul al kafi, i want to ask you this question, brother or sister, do you yourself speak and read arabic? or are you just relying on some prejudiced maulana to tell you "what is in usul al kafi"??
it is irresponsible for any muslim to wrongfully accuse people of things like that.
and by the way, the ahlul bayt are the leaders(umara) for the ahlus sunnah.
i understand that amongst the Desi sunnis it is common to use the word shi3a as if this were a bad word. you should know that some of the greatest of sunni scholars such as imam ash shafi3i were imprisoned for "shi3a sympathies"
and anas (the sahabi) disobeyed the order of Mu3awiyah to curse 3Ali from the pulpits.
please stop the madness
as far as this shi3a friend of yours i would advise him to stop smoking hash and opium mixed balls in his pipe because that may be the REAL cause of his hallucinations about 12th imam hiding in a cave, and NOT any authentic shi3a teaching

for those who want to know: (+1)   Oct.18.2008 @ 1:34 am

some people, please refrain from intentionally spreading false information about what Ahlu Sunnah wal Jamaah are about.

Rasoolullah (salam upon him and his companions) left us Al-Quran, and Al-Sunnah (his way of life).

For some reason, shias [of all kinds] imply that the Ahlu Bait did not follow the Sunnah [ the way of Rasoolallah (salam upon him and his companions)].

Sunnis do not believe that some old guy is hiding in a cave with Allah's Kalam, astaghfirullah, when the Creator Almighty Himself says, "WE have clearly revealed the message".

The belief that an "imam is hiding the truth in a cave" defeats the whole purpose of islam.

I invite all shias to read their Usool al Kaafi, which outlines shia beliefs and is supposed to be the "best of their best books", and the Quran and then compare. Both disagree on many, many, many occasions on many, many, many things. Please, please, please, READ them yourself. DO NOT GO AND ASK A "ZAAKIR" or somebody like that.

for example, the Holy Quran clearly proves that Rasoolallah (salam upon him and his companions) had more than one daughters. But shias [of all kinds] wrongfully insist he had only one. When I showed the Ayah to one of my colleagues who is a shia, he did not know how to respond. He appeared flabbergasted. He then suggested that, Astaghfirullah, the "real quran was with the 12th imam who is hiding in a cave."

The shias [of all kinds] have to negate the Ayaahs of the Quran to stick with their belief system.

for futher information, questions, comments, and hate mail, please message me. do not destroy the thread.

As Ismailis fall under the Shia category, the question is what is the difference between Sunnis and Shias. Sunnis believe that the prophet left behind just the Quran, and Shias believe the prophet left behind the quran and to bow down to Aly and his descendants. Some Shias believe that these Descendants ended with the 12th Imam, as there was a separation created when on the 7th Imam. Ismailis believes Mawlana Ismail was the Imam, and other Shias believe it was his brother and thought Ismail was dead when we believe he faked his death and moved to another location and then the lineage continued up to our present Imam. There was another separation at some other point that created the Bohras
